Crystal Palace v Newcastle kicks off at 2pm (GMT) on Sunday 25 October 2026 at Selhurst Park and is live on Sky Sports. Our lean is both teams to score: Palace have conceded 17 league goals, the most in the division, Newcastle have let in 14, and both teams have seen over 2.5 goals in five of their seven league games. Palace play Beşiktaş in Istanbul on Thursday night, so they have three days to recover. Newcastle last played on Saturday 17 October. These are our opinions, not certainties, and we don’t quote odds because prices move.
When is Crystal Palace v Newcastle and is it on TV?
| Competition | Premier League, Matchweek 8 |
|---|---|
| Date | Sunday 25 October 2026 |
| Kick-off | 14:00 GMT (UK time; the clocks go back at 2am that morning) |
| Venue | Selhurst Park, London |
| UK TV | Sky Sports, per the Premier League’s broadcast announcement |
| League positions | Crystal Palace 14th (7 pts); Newcastle 11th (8 pts), after Matchweek 7 |
| Managers | Pierre Sage (Palace) and Matthias Jaissle (Newcastle), both appointed in summer 2026 |
| Midweek | Palace: away at Beşiktaş, Europa League, Thursday 22 October (20:00 UK; see our Europa League tips). Newcastle: no midweek game |
The game was moved to Sunday because of Palace’s Thursday Europa League match. Team news can change after Friday’s press conferences, and line-ups are usually confirmed about an hour before kick-off.
What is the Crystal Palace team news?
Crystal Palace will be without Takehiro Tomiyasu, who Sage says is “out until the next international break” with a new injury. Quinten Timber was ruled out of the Beşiktaş trip, and the Fantasy Premier League injury list had him at 75% to play. Ben Chilwell is back after missing three matchday squads, and captain Dean Henderson returned to team training on Monday. Sage said the club “will see this weekend” whether Henderson can play, so Walter Benítez may stay in goal. Jean-Philippe Mateta came off the bench at Brighton on his first appearance since 22 August after a hamstring injury, and Chadi Riad is listed as out with a knee problem. Axel Disasi served the last game of his three-match ban at Brighton, so he is available again. One preview site still lists him as suspended, but that ban covered Leeds, Forest and Brighton.
Sage’s own position is in the headlines. After the 5-0 defeat at Brighton, the Guardian reported that Palace will give him more time, but warned that results must improve quickly. Asked if he expected to be in charge for this game, Sage said: “I don’t know.”
What is the Newcastle team news?
Newcastle are still missing Anthony Elanga and Jacob Ramsey, who haven’t played since 8 September. Jaissle hopes both can rejoin training at least partially this week, but local reporters expect next Thursday’s League Cup tie at Everton to be the earliest realistic return. Tino Livramento is also out, and Jaissle says the club will be “cautious” with him. Dan Burn is “getting fitter and fitter” after two cameos off the bench, and William Osula is coming back “slowly but surely”, so neither may start. Amar Dedić was on the bench against Aston Villa but, according to the i Paper, wasn’t yet considered match fit. That leaves Lewis Miley as the likely right-back again.
What form are Crystal Palace and Newcastle in?
Crystal Palace (last five league games, most recent last): W 3-2 at Fulham, L 2-3 v Ipswich, D 0-0 at Leeds, W 3-1 v Nottingham Forest, L 0-5 at Brighton. The 5-0 at Brighton equalled a 70-year record for Palace’s heaviest defeat by their rivals. In Europe they beat Lech Poznań 4-0 and lost 3-2 at Lyon.
Newcastle (last five league games): D 2-2 v Bournemouth, L 1-4 at Leeds, W 2-1 v Hull, L 1-4 at Coventry, L 0-1 v Aston Villa. They were unbeaten in their first three league games, but have lost three of the last four.

What happened when Crystal Palace played Newcastle last season?
The home side won both league meetings in 2025/26. Palace won 2-1 at Selhurst Park and Newcastle won 2-0 at St James’ Park. Palace finished 15th but won the Conference League, which is why they are in the Europa League this season. Newcastle finished 12th.
What are the key stats for Crystal Palace v Newcastle?
- Palace have conceded 17 league goals, more than any other Premier League side.
- Newcastle have conceded 14, and four goals in each of their last two away league games (at Leeds and Coventry).
- Both sides have had over 2.5 goals in five of their seven league games.
- Palace have lost two of their three home league games. Their only home win was 3-1 against Forest.
- Palace will have had three days’ rest after Istanbul. Newcastle will have had eight days since their last game.
What is our Crystal Palace v Newcastle prediction?
These are our opinions on how the match might go, not certainties. Football is unpredictable, and any bet can lose. Only stake what you can afford to lose.
Both teams to score: this is our main lean. Both defences have been poor, and both clubs have injuries at the back. Newcastle have scored in six of their seven league games. Palace have scored in four of seven, but they found the net three times in their only home win and Mateta’s return gives them another option up front.
Result: we don’t have a strong view. Newcastle have the fresher legs, which matters against a side coming back from Istanbul on Friday. Palace have the home crowd, but their home form hasn’t been good. A draw is a realistic outcome. If you’d rather not pick a winner, double chance markets exist for exactly this kind of game.
Goals: over 2.5 goals fits both teams’ season so far. Treat that with caution, though: Palace kept a clean sheet at Leeds, and Newcastle drew a blank against Villa.
Player markets: wait for confirmed line-ups. Henderson v Benítez in goal, Mateta v Strand Larsen up front and Dedić’s fitness are all still open.
