Last reviewed 20 October 2026. Licence details checked on the Gambling Commission public register; offer, payment and feature details checked on Sky Bet’s own help centre. We could not load Sky Bet’s main betting site from our review location, so anything we could only have confirmed there is marked as not verified.
Quick verdict
Sky Bet is a long-standing UK sportsbook whose help centre is unusually detailed about how its welcome offer, withdrawals and cash out work. The current sign-up offer has a very low qualifying stake (5p) but a £5 deposit and a 1/1 minimum odds requirement, and it pays out as three £10 tokens that cannot be used on virtuals. Withdrawals are fast if you use Pay by Bank or an eligible card. The main drawbacks we found are narrower payment choice than some rivals – PayPal isn’t offered – and no customer support between 2am and 7am. It may suit someone who wants a mainstream app with RequestABet; it is less suited to anyone who wants e-wallets.

New Sky Betting and Gaming customers 18+ only (previous Sky Bet, Vegas, Casino, Bingo or Poker account holders excluded). Register, add card details and make a minimum £5 deposit. Your first bet must be a single or each-way bet of at least £0.05 on any Sky Bet market at odds of 1/1 or greater; accumulated smaller stakes do not count and only your first bet counts. Staking requirement must be met within 30 days of registration. Rewards: three £10 Free Bet tokens, usable on any single or each-way market excluding virtuals, not with any other offer. Free Bets expire 30 days after crediting, are non-withdrawable and stakes are not included in returns. One claim per customer. Customers depositing with Neteller or Skrill do not qualify. Offer may differ if you arrive via another link. Sky Bet General Promotion Terms apply.
According to Sky Bet’s own welcome offer page, the current offer is £30 in free bets for new customers who register, make a minimum deposit of £5 and place a first bet of 5p or more at odds of 1/1 or greater. The significant terms, quoted or closely paraphrased from that page:
- 18+ new customers only. Anyone who has held a Sky Bet, Sky Vegas, Sky Casino, Sky Bingo or Sky Poker account counts as an existing customer.
- You must sign up via the “£30 in Free Bets when you place any bet” promotion and place a minimum of £0.05 as your first bet, on a single or each-way bet on any Sky Bet market at odds of 1/1 or greater.
- Only your first bet counts. An accumulation of smaller stakes will not count.
- Free bets are credited as three £10 tokens. They are non-withdrawable and free bet stakes are not included in returns.
- Free bets can be used on any single or each-way market, excluding virtuals, and cannot be combined with any other offer.
- Free bets expire 30 days after crediting. Staking requirements must be met within 30 days of registering.
- Customers using Neteller or Skrill will not qualify. The offer can be claimed once per customer.
- Self-excluded customers, or those with account restrictions, may not be eligible.
Sky Bet’s page also warns that the amount you receive can differ if you arrive from a search engine or an affiliate, because the offer may have changed. Check the terms shown at sign-up. Third-party sites were showing different headline amounts on the same day, which is a good reason to rely on the operator’s page rather than a summary.
What is it worth? Because the stake isn’t returned on a free bet, three £10 tokens are worth less than £30 in cash; see how free bets work for a worked example. The terms we saw do not mention a wagering requirement on free bet winnings – if one appears at sign-up, our guide to wagering requirements explains what it means. Offers for existing customers
Sky Bet’s promotions hub listed a free-to-play prize draw, free-to-play games such as Super 6 and ITV7, and casino-side games promotions when we checked. We have not listed specific boosts or racing concessions because we could not confirm their current terms on the main betting site. Free-to-play games don’t need a stake, but read the eligibility rules: Sky Bet’s terms make clear that offers can be withheld from accounts with restrictions. Promotions for casino games are separate products and not covered by this review.
Sports and markets
Sky Bet’s help centre has dedicated sections for football and horse racing and refers to cash out on “a wide range of sports, including football, tennis, horse racing, and many more.” We could not load the sportsbook itself to count sports or markets, so we are not making claims about depth of coverage beyond what its help pages state.
Odds and betting features
RequestABet and BuildABet
Sky Bet’s bet builder tools let you combine eligible markets in one event into a single bet. Its help page describes two routes: build your own combination with Bet Builder, or pick from pre-priced RequestABets. A combined bet like this has to land in full, so odds look attractive partly because the chance of every leg winning is lower. Our bet builder guide covers how pricing and void legs work.
Cash out
Sky Bet offers cash out on eligible singles, multiples and accas, pre-play, in-play and between legs. Its help page notes that cash out can be suspended – for example, when markets are suspended, near the end of a match, or because of an in-play delay – and that the value offered can be more or less than your stake. Cash out is a way to settle early, not a guarantee.
Accumulators
We did not find acca insurance terms on Sky Bet’s help pages during our check, so we haven’t listed it as a feature. If you want to understand how these offers usually work, read acca insurance explained.
AccaFreeze
Sky Bet’s AccaFreeze lets you lock in one winning leg of a football acca while it is in-play, so that leg settles as a winner even if the score changes. Its help centre limits it to accas of 5+ legs on pre-match Full Time Result markets in selected competitions, a £20 maximum stake, one freeze per bet and three freezes a week (checked 22 October 2026). The full rules and catches are in our Sky Bet AccaFreeze guide.
The Sky Bet app
The help centre is written largely around the app – for example, finding open bets under My Bets in the bottom menu, using the orange present icon in the bet slip to apply a free bet, and connecting Pay by Bank from within the app. We did not test the app ourselves for this review, so we are not commenting on speed or design.
Payments and Sky Bet withdrawal times
Sky Bet’s deposit page lists three options: Pay by Bank, debit cards and Apple Pay. You can add up to three debit cards (this limit doesn’t apply to Apple Pay), and deposits are processed immediately. Credit cards cannot be used for gambling in Great Britain.
PayPal is not available at Sky Bet – see our list of betting sites that accept PayPal if that matters to you. Note also that the welcome offer excludes Neteller and Skrill.
Withdrawal times from Sky Bet’s help pages:
| Method | Typical time (per Sky Bet) | Minimum |
|---|---|---|
| Pay by Bank | Instant after first use; allow at least 90 minutes for the first withdrawal | £5 |
| Visa / participating Mastercard (instant) | 1–4 hours; contact Sky Bet if not received in 24 hours | £5 |
| Card (standard) | 2–5 working days | £5 |
| Apple Pay | Not stated; only to a card previously used for an Apple Pay deposit | £5 |
You must deposit with a new payment method before you can withdraw to it. Bank holidays don’t count as working days. As with any licensed operator, withdrawals can be held while identity or other checks are completed.
Safer gambling tools at Sky Bet
Sky Bet’s help pages refer to a Safer Gambling section, a dedicated route to safer gambling support through its contact form even outside social-media hours, and a global deposit limit. We did not verify the full list of tools (for example time-outs or reality checks) on an official page, so check the Safer Gambling section of your account for what is available.
Whichever bookmaker you use, set a deposit limit before your first deposit (licensed operators must prompt you to), decide your budget in advance and never chase losses. GamStop lets you self-exclude from all online gambling sites licensed in Great Britain for free at gamstop.co.uk, and many banks let you block gambling transactions. The National Gambling Helpline (0808 8020 133) is free, confidential and open 24 hours a day. See our responsible gambling page for more.

- Standard card withdrawals can take up to 5 working days.
Frequently asked questions
Is Sky Bet legit?
Sky Bet’s operator, SBG Sports Limited, holds an active remote betting licence from the Gambling Commission (account 67370), and skybet.com is listed as an active domain on the public register (checked 20 October 2026). A licence means the operator must follow UK rules on fairness, verification and safer gambling; it doesn’t mean betting carries no chance of loss.

Is the Sky Bet free bet stake returned?
No. Sky Bet’s terms say free bet stakes are not included in returns.

No. Sky Betting & Gaming’s help pages say PayPal is no longer accepted.
