To claim a free bet, join a licensed bookmaker as a new customer, opt in or enter any promo code at sign-up, deposit with an eligible payment method, and place a qualifying bet at the minimum odds before the deadline. The free bets usually arrive after the qualifying bet settles. Then use them on the bet types allowed before they expire.
How to claim free bets: step by step
Step 1: Read the significant terms first
Every UK offer must show its key terms next to the headline. Before you register, note five things: the qualifying stake, the minimum odds, the deadline, any excluded payment methods, and how the free bets can be used. If anything is unclear, don’t sign up yet.
Step 2: Check you’re eligible
Welcome offers are for new customers aged 18 or over, usually once per person, household, device or payment account. If you’ve had an account with the brand before, or sometimes with a sister brand run by the same company, you may not qualify.
Step 3: Opt in or enter the promo code
Some offers need a code at registration, others an opt-in box, and some neither. Examples from our checks on 21 October 2026: Midnite uses code BETGET30, Dabble’s site shows code B10G10, BetUK and BetMGM ask you to select the Sports Welcome Offer, and Stakemate asks you to opt in. Sky Bet’s own sign-up link carries the code AB5G30 (checked 22 October 2026; see our Sky Bet sign up offer guide). Codes usually can’t be added after sign-up.
Step 4: Set a deposit limit, then deposit with an eligible method
Licensed operators must prompt you to set a deposit limit before your first deposit. Set one you can afford. Then check payment exclusions: Sky Bet excludes Neteller and Skrill deposits, Stakemate excludes Revolut, and Unibet requires a debit card or instant bank transfer. Credit cards aren’t allowed anywhere (why you can’t bet with a credit card). See payment methods excluded from welcome offers.
Step 5: Place the qualifying bet correctly
Match the stake, odds, bet type and deadline exactly. Common rules:
- Minimum odds: often 1/1 (2.0), as at Sky Bet, BetMGM, BetUK, Unibet, Midnite and Stakemate; Spreadex’s fixed-odds offer accepts 1/2 (1.5).
- Bet type: Midnite excludes each-way; Sky Bet’s offer counts only your first bet.
- Deadline: from 7 days (BetUK, BetMGM, Dabble) to 28 days (Spreadex) after registration.
- No cash out: cashed-out bets usually don’t qualify.
- Excluded markets: virtual sports are commonly excluded.
Step 6: Wait for settlement and crediting
Most free bets arrive after the qualifying bet settles, win or lose. Stakemate and Dabble say within 24 hours of settlement; Spreadex credits one fixed-odds free bet when the bet settles and the rest every 24 hours. If nothing arrives, check the promotions or rewards area of your account before contacting support.
Step 7: Use the free bets on the right bet
Free bets often come with their own rules, separate from the qualifying bet. BetUK’s and BetMGM’s go on football accas and sports multiples; Stakemate’s need 3+ selections at 3.0+; Midnite splits £30 into a single, Bet Builders and an acca. Check expiry too: 7 days is common, Spreadex allows 28.
Step 8: Understand what you can withdraw
The free bet stake is almost never returned. A £10 free bet at 3.0 returns £20, not £30, and that £20 is usually withdrawable cash. Free bets themselves can’t be withdrawn. Mistakes to avoid
- Depositing more than you planned because an offer looks generous. The qualifying stake is the most you need.
- Opening several accounts in a short time. Each new account is another place to spend money.
- Using free bets on odds or markets you wouldn’t normally bet on just to meet the rules.
- Treating free bets as income. They’re a promotion, and most bets lose.

Frequently asked questions
How do I claim a free bet? Register as a new customer, enter any promo code or opt in at sign-up, set a deposit limit, deposit with an eligible method and place the qualifying bet at the required stake, odds and deadline. Free bets are usually credited after the bet settles, win or lose.
Do I need a promo code to claim free bets? Only for some offers. Midnite uses BETGET30 and Dabble’s site shows B10G10, while BetUK, BetMGM and Stakemate use an opt-in instead (checked 21 October 2026). Codes generally have to be entered at registration, so check before you sign up.
Why haven’t I received my free bet? The usual reasons are a missed code or opt-in, an excluded payment method, odds below the minimum, an each-way or cashed-out bet, or a qualifying bet placed after the deadline. Credit can also take up to 24 hours after settlement at some bookmakers.
Can I withdraw a free bet? No. A free bet is a token, not cash. If it wins, you usually receive the winnings as withdrawable cash but not the free bet stake, so a £10 free bet at 3.0 returns £20. Check whether any wagering applies.
Can I claim free bets more than once? Welcome offers are normally once per person, and often once per household, device or payment account. Some existing-customer promotions repeat, such as BetUK’s weekly £5 free bet, but each has its own terms.

Set a deposit limit before your first deposit (licensed operators must prompt you to), decide your budget in advance and never chase losses.
