Quick verdict

Stakemate is a social betting app built around group bets with friends. Its terms are unusually transparent on things many operators bury – a £5 minimum deposit and withdrawal, a £20,000 daily maximum winnings cap, and a “medium protection” rating for customer funds. The welcome offer is £20 in free bets for a £10 bet, but the free bets themselves need at least three selections at combined odds of 3.0 or more, which makes them harder to win with than a plain single. Withdrawals to cards are slow (normally 4–6 working days for bank clearance). It may suit groups who want to bet together; solo bettors will find more conventional apps elsewhere.

Stakemate’s promotions page lists a Sportsbook Welcome Promotion: Bet £10 get £20. Its terms, quoted or closely paraphrased:

  • You must opt in and be a new customer without an existing Stakemate account.
  • Place a £10 bet on any market at minimum odds of 1/1 (2.0). The qualifying bet must settle before the offer expires; cashed-out bets don’t count.
  • This offer expires at midnight on 01/12/2026.
  • Free bets are credited within 24 hours of the qualifying bet settling, as 4 x £5 free bets.
  • The free bets require a minimum of 3 selections and 3.0 odds. Returns exclude the free bet stake.
  • Free bet expiry applies – check the expiry date on the token in the app.
  • Deposits made using Revolut do not qualify.

The three-selection rule matters. A multiple at 3.0 or more is less likely to win than a single at evens, so the expected value of these tokens is lower than the headline £20 suggests. Read how free bets work on minimum odds and stake-not-returned. Stakemate’s general terms (clause 8.2) also say that, unless a promotion states otherwise, a free bet stake “must be gambled before being withdrawn” – that describes the token, not your winnings, but our guide to wagering requirements explains the difference. See other offers on our free bets page.

Stakemate’s promotions page also lists a casino welcome offer for selected customers only; casino offers are outside this sportsbook review.

Offers for existing customers

Stakemate’s promotions page lists, among others:

  • Refer a friend: when a referred friend places a £10+ bet at 2.0+ and it settles, you both get a £5 free bet (3 selections, 3.0+ odds), credited within 72 hours. Stakemate says it will withhold rewards where accounts appear connected.
  • Bet Rewards Club: a points-based loyalty scheme being released to a limited group of customers. Points are earned on real-money bets at 2.0+; reward free bets need 2 selections at 2.0+, expire after 7 days and carry no wagering requirement on winnings. Customers may be placed on different “Tracks” with different thresholds.
  • Daily Prize Draw: free to enter once you have made at least one deposit; prizes may include free bets, cash, free spins or nothing.
  • Bet Boosts, available to eligible customers with maximum stakes.

Loyalty schemes with levels and badges are designed to keep you betting. Stakemate’s own terms say it may stop crediting rewards where continuing isn’t consistent with keeping your gambling safe – a reminder that the reward is never a reason to bet.

Sports and markets

Stakemate’s terms and betting rules cover sports betting and group bets; we couldn’t verify the list of sports or markets in the app.

Odds and features

Group bets

Stakemate describes itself as “a social betting app”. Some promotions offer free group bets, which need at least one other member of your group to place the bet. Its terms warn that an accepted bet can be voided because of another customer’s actions under the group bet rules. If you bet with friends, agree stakes in advance and keep them within each person’s own budget.

Bet builders and accas

We couldn’t confirm a bet builder on an official Stakemate page. See our bet builder guide and acca insurance explainer for how these products generally work.

Maximum winnings

Clause 9.4 caps sports betting winnings at £20,000 per calendar day per account, regardless of stake. Larger operators often have higher limits, so this is worth knowing if you place bigger bets.

The Stakemate app

Stakemate is mobile-first: deposits are made from the Wallet Balance in the app header, and withdrawals from the app’s Withdrawal section. We did not test the app for this review.

Payments and Stakemate withdrawal times

From Stakemate’s terms:

  • Minimum deposit £5; Stakemate doesn’t charge for deposits.
  • Standard minimum withdrawal £5 – if your balance is lower, contact support to withdraw it.
  • Card withdrawals are subject to the bank’s clearance period, normally 4–6 working days; online payment services normally same day.
  • A closed-loop system: you must withdraw back to a method until its net deposits are cleared before withdrawing to a new one.
  • Accounts inactive for 12 months are treated as dormant; if funds can’t be returned, a £5 monthly fee applies.
  • Customer funds are held separately and rated “medium protection” in the event of insolvency.

The specific payment methods are only shown in the app. If you want an e-wallet, see our list of betting sites that accept PayPal.

Safer gambling tools at Stakemate

Stakemate’s terms (clause 23) describe: daily, weekly or monthly deposit limits; a maximum stake per bet; time-outs of 24 hours or one to six weeks; and self-exclusion from six months up to five years, from the Account Screen or by email. It also supports GamStop.

Whichever bookmaker you use, set a deposit limit before your first deposit (licensed operators must prompt you to), decide your budget in advance and never chase losses. GamStop lets you self-exclude from all online gambling sites licensed in Great Britain for free at gamstop.co.uk, and many banks let you block gambling transactions. The National Gambling Helpline (0808 8020 133) is free, confidential and open 24 hours a day. See our responsible gambling page for more.
