“Best paying slots” usually means the slots with the highest return to player (RTP) – the long-run average percentage of stakes a game pays back. RTP is useful, but it’s often misunderstood. This page explains what it does and doesn’t tell you, and lists RTPs we’ve checked on the game provider’s own website. We don’t use figures from aggregator sites.

What RTP means
An RTP of 96% means that, over a very large number of spins across all players, the game is designed to pay back £96 for every £100 staked. The other 4% is the house edge. As Midnite’s own help page puts it, RTP “shows the long-term average return – it’s a guide, not a guarantee”.
- Short sessions vary hugely. You can lose your whole budget on a 97% game, or win on an 88% one.
- Volatility matters too. High-volatility slots pay less often but in bigger amounts; low-volatility slots pay smaller amounts more often. RTP doesn’t tell you this.
- Casinos can choose RTP settings. Many providers offer more than one RTP version of the same slot. The figure in the game’s info or help screen at your casino is the one that applies – check it before playing.
Provider-published RTPs (checked 20 October 2026)
These figures are taken from each game’s page on the provider’s own website. They are the provider’s headline figures; your casino may run a different version.

| Sweet Bonanza | Pragmatic Play | 96.48% | Provider page |

We tried to check other major providers’ sites, but they didn’t publish an RTP in a form we could verify, so we’ve left them out rather than use third-party figures.
How much does RTP actually change?
On £100 of total stakes, the expected loss at 96.71% RTP is about £3.29; at 96.01% it’s about £3.99. That difference is small next to the normal ups and downs of a session. Your budget, stake size and time spent playing matter much more. Remember the stake limits: no more than £5 per spin if you’re 25 or over, and £2 if you’re 18–24.
How to find a slot’s RTP
- Open the game and find the info, paytable or help screen.
- Look for “RTP” or “theoretical return to player”.
- If a game has a bonus buy or feature options, these can have their own RTPs.

UK rules that shape every casino offer
- 10x wagering cap. Since 19 January 2026, a licensed operator must not apply a wagering requirement of more than 10 times to bonus funds (Gambling Commission, LCCP Social Responsibility Code 5.1.1(3a)). The Commission’s own example of the old problem: a £10 bonus at 50x meant £500 of play before you could withdraw.
- No mixed-product promotions. From the same date, a single incentive can’t combine betting, casino, bingo and lottery (SR Code 5.1.1(3b)). The Commission says “Spend £5 on casino products and get 20 spins” is compliant, but “Bet £5 and get 20 free spins” is not.
- Slot stake limits. The most you can stake per online slot game cycle is £5 if you’re 25 or over and £2 if you’re 18–24. The £5 limit started on 9 April 2025 and the £2 limit on 21 May 2025. These limits apply to online slots only, not to roulette, blackjack or other table games.
- No credit cards. Since 14 April 2020, licensed operators can’t accept credit card payments for online gambling, including through e-wallets funded by a credit card.
Staying in control
Casino games are fast and continuous. Before you claim any offer, set a deposit limit (UK-licensed casinos must give you the tools), decide how much you’re prepared to lose, and turn on reality checks. Never deposit more to “unlock” a bonus you weren’t planning to play for anyway. If you want a break from all UK-licensed gambling sites at once, GamStop is free and lets you self-exclude for 6 months, 1 year or 5 years. The National Gambling Helpline (0808 8020 133) is free and confidential. More help is on our responsible gambling page.

Which slots pay out the most in the UK?
No slot pays out reliably. RTP is a long-run average, and the version your casino runs may differ from the provider’s headline figure.
Is a higher RTP better?
Slightly, over a long time. In a single session, luck and volatility matter far more.
Where do your RTP figures come from?
Only from the game provider’s own website, checked on 20 October 2026.
Can a casino change a slot’s RTP?
Casinos can choose from the RTP versions a provider offers. Check the in-game info screen.
