Live casino games are streamed from a studio with a real dealer, while you place your bets on screen. They feel more like a land-based casino than standard online games, but they come with their own rules, stakes and house edge. Here’s how live casino works in the UK and what to check before you play.

Main types of live casino game
Live roulette
European (single-zero) roulette has 37 pockets. Most bets pay as if there were 36, which gives a house edge of 1/37, or about 2.7%. American (double-zero) roulette has 38 pockets, raising the edge on most bets to about 5.26%. Variants with multipliers change the payouts, so check each game’s help screen for its RTP.
Live blackjack
The house edge depends on the rules – the number of decks, whether the dealer stands on soft 17, and the payout for blackjack – and on how you play. A table that pays 6:5 instead of 3:2 on blackjack is worse for players. Side bets usually carry a higher house edge than the main game.
Baccarat
Player, Banker and Tie bets have different returns. The Tie bet usually has the highest house edge. Check the game’s information for the published RTP of each bet.
Game shows
Money-wheel and multiplier games are entertainment-led and can have quite different RTPs on each bet. Always check the in-game help.
Live casino and the UK rules
- The £5 and £2 stake limits apply to online slots, not live roulette, blackjack or baccarat. Table limits are set by each game.
- Live games often contribute little or nothing to wagering on casino bonuses. Check the contribution table before using bonus funds – see casino welcome bonuses.
- Free spins can’t be used on live games – they’re for slots. See free spins offers.
- Credit cards can’t be used to fund your account.
Who provides UK live casino?
Most UK casinos use studios run by specialist providers. Midnite’s casino help centre lists “Live Casino” alongside slots and table games. We haven’t verified which providers each casino uses, so check the game lobby of the casino you’re using.
Playing live casino responsibly
Live games can run for hours, and fast rounds add up. Decide your budget and session length before you sit down, use reality checks, and avoid raising your stakes to win back losses.

UK rules that shape every casino offer
- 10x wagering cap. Since 19 January 2026, a licensed operator must not apply a wagering requirement of more than 10 times to bonus funds (Gambling Commission, LCCP Social Responsibility Code 5.1.1(3a)). The Commission’s own example of the old problem: a £10 bonus at 50x meant £500 of play before you could withdraw.
- No mixed-product promotions. From the same date, a single incentive can’t combine betting, casino, bingo and lottery (SR Code 5.1.1(3b)). The Commission says “Spend £5 on casino products and get 20 spins” is compliant, but “Bet £5 and get 20 free spins” is not.
- Slot stake limits. The most you can stake per online slot game cycle is £5 if you’re 25 or over and £2 if you’re 18–24. The £5 limit started on 9 April 2025 and the £2 limit on 21 May 2025. These limits apply to online slots only, not to roulette, blackjack or other table games.
- No credit cards. Since 14 April 2020, licensed operators can’t accept credit card payments for online gambling, including through e-wallets funded by a credit card.
Staying in control
Casino games are fast and continuous. Before you claim any offer, set a deposit limit (UK-licensed casinos must give you the tools), decide how much you’re prepared to lose, and turn on reality checks. Never deposit more to “unlock” a bonus you weren’t planning to play for anyway. If you want a break from all UK-licensed gambling sites at once, GamStop is free and lets you self-exclude for 6 months, 1 year or 5 years. The National Gambling Helpline (0808 8020 133) is free and confidential. More help is on our responsible gambling page.

Can I use a casino bonus on live games?
Sometimes, but live games often count for little or nothing towards wagering.
