How the Book of Dead features work
Play’n GO’s game page explains the features in some detail:
- Free spins: landing three scatter symbols unlocks ten free spins.
- Special expanding symbol: before the free spins start, one ordinary symbol is picked at random to act as a special expanding symbol for the whole round.
- How it expands: after normal wins are paid, the special symbol may expand to cover all three positions on its reel, but only when that creates additional wins on active paylines. Expanded symbols don’t need to be on adjacent reels to form a win.
- Retriggers: landing three or more scatters during free spins awards another 10 free spins.
Because the round depends heavily on which symbol is chosen and how often it lands, two bonus rounds can produce very different results.
Book of Dead max win
Play’n GO’s game page doesn’t state a maximum win, so we don’t quote one. Some sites publish figures for this game, but we only use the provider’s own information. The paytable inside the game at your casino will show the payouts that apply, and the game help screen should state the RTP of the version you’re playing.
Book of Dead stake limits in the UK
Whatever the game’s own settings, UK-licensed casinos must cap online slot stakes at £5 per spin if you’re 25 or over and £2 per spin if you’re 18–24. The £5 limit came in on 9 April 2025 and the £2 limit on 21 May 2025. The casino has to check your age to apply the right limit, so the maximum you see in the game may differ from a friend’s.
